This page discusses the types of personal data that Yamaha retains (retained personal data) and its purposes for use. Yamaha uses the customer personal information we retain for the purposes of sending our products and catalogs, as well as of providing related information.

Procedures for Responding to Requests for Disclosure of, or Changes to, Personal Information

Yamaha will respond to requests made by the individual or an agent thereof for disclosures of, deletion of, stoppage of use of, or revisions to, retained personal data according to the following procedures:

Yamaha will disclose customer personal information in accordance with laws on the protection of personal information. Please follow the procedure outlined below to request the disclosure of your personal information.
Who may request disclosure
  • Disclosure of personal information may be requested by the individual in question or a legal or otherwise designated agent thereof.
  • We ask that the requester submit the necessary documents to confirm his or her identity.
    When disclosure is sought by an otherwise designated agent of the individual in question, we ask that a letter designating authority of representation to the agent also be submitted.
Handling fee Please enclose a postal money order for 600 yen (tax included) as a handling fee.
* Postal money orders can be purchased at post offices.
Submission methods After completing the required items on Yamaha's Personal Information Disclosure Request Form, please mail them to the address below together with the other required documents.

* Please include the address of the individual in question as the return address so that we may send our response.
* Please understand that in some cases we have not retained any personal information for a given customer.
As a rule, we will not return the handling fee in such cases.

Notes Information will not be disclosed if any of the following have been determined to be the case. When information is not to be disclosed, Yamaha will notify the requester of that fact and the reason for that decision.
As a rule, we will not return the handling fee even in cases when the information is not disclosed.
  1. The identity of the individual in question cannot be confirmed because the address on the disclosure request form, the documents from the individual, and the address that we have on file do not match, or for similar reasons
  2. Yamaha is unable to confirm the authority of the agent making the request
  3. The documentation with the request is incomplete or incorrect
  4. The information requested for disclosure is not "retained personal data"
  5. The request poses a threat to the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual in question or a third party
  6. The request poses the threat of substantially interfering with the proper conduct of business by Yamaha
  7. The request violates laws or ordinances

2. Procedure for changes/revisions

Guide to the procedure for revisions and other changes to personal information
Yamaha will make revisions to, delete, or stop the use of, customer personal information or its provision to third parties in accordance with laws on the protection of personal information.
Please follow the procedure outlined below to request such changes or revisions to your personal information or its use.
Who may make requests
  • Changes to personal information or its use may be requested by the individual in question or a legal or otherwise designated representative thereof.
  • Please understand that it is necessary for us to confirm the identity of any individual making such a request.
Submission methods Please contact a representative in the relevant department at Yamaha.
  • Yamaha will directs the affected individuals to the department in charge and contact information for a representative of that department when it collects personal information from customers or when it sends direct mailings.
  • You may be asked to prepare and submit certain forms.
  • * Please understand that it may take time to confirm and/or make changes to customer information.
Handling fee Free
Notes There are cases in which Yamaha is unable to respond to your request due to certain legal provisions or for similar reasons. In such cases, Yamaha will notify the requester of that fact and the reason for that decision.
